WIRED Manufacturer Guide

What should you know before ordering a WIRED bike?

WIRED describes its products as Power Performance Bikes and warns that some jurisdictions do not recognize them as conventional e-bikes. Establish legal suitability before purchase. The selected models are also heavy: the manufacturer lists Freedom and Cruiser at 115 lb and Raven at 142 lb with batteries.

A lower-step frame can address mounting access.

It does not settle transport, storage, stopping technique, or access to the route you want.

I haven’t personally tested these products.

How do Freedom, Cruiser, and Raven compare?

Freedom and Cruiser share several manufacturer-listed electrical specifications but differ in frame arrangement. Raven uses a different voltage system, smaller wheels, and higher claimed output. Keep each specification attached to the exact model and generation. Older reviews may describe a different electrical platform.

These are manufacturer figures. They are not independently measured performance or handling results.

Does the supplied speed setting settle legality?

No. WIRED says the products ship with a 20 mph setting and selectable modes, but its terms explicitly warn that their ability to be unlocked above 750W may affect classification and public-road access. The manufacturer’s own documents therefore do not support a universal road-legal claim.

The model pages repeat that restrictions may apply.

Before buying, resolve the exact configuration against the governing rules.

A setting labeled “Class 2” is not an independent legal determination.

Can you transport one on an ordinary e-bike rack?

Do not assume so. Even without batteries, the listed weights are 87 lb for Freedom and Cruiser and 104 lb for Raven. Verify the carrier, vehicle connection, attachment method, and loading process for the actual configuration.

The task includes securing and unloading, not just getting the wheels onto a tray.

If another person is essential, make that dependency explicit in the ownership plan.

What does the warranty cover?

WIRED publishes one year of limited coverage from delivery for the original buyer. It is not transferable. Covered components are listed, while wear items, rear racks, specified damage, and various unauthorized modifications or repairs are excluded. Replacements do not restart the period.

Labor generally requires prior approval.

The customer is responsible for specified warranty shipping charges. Establish the approved process before sending components or paying a mechanic.

What does battery coverage mean?

The battery section states one year and identifies a capacity falling below 50% of its rated value as a qualifying condition, subject to the warranty’s requirements. It also uses “pro-rated” wording without providing a calculation schedule. Do not assign a guaranteed refund amount from that description.

The policy includes model-specific charging and care conditions.

Use those instructions and the current manual rather than borrowing storage guidance from another system.

An aftermarket battery can affect electrical-component coverage under the published terms. Confirm exact compatibility before purchasing a replacement.

What repair process should you expect?

WIRED requires contact before attempted repair and may request photographs, video, or other evidence. It describes 14 days as a reasonable period for supplying requested documentation. Local professional work and reimbursement are subject to advance approval.

The page also contains broad conduct-related provisions asserting that support or warranty may be terminated for specified behavior, including certain threatened legal or public-review actions. Those are the company’s stated conditions, not a determination here of their legal enforceability.

Read the purchase documents before committing. They form part of the ownership arrangement, not just website fine print.

Can you return a bike that doesn’t suit you?

The dedicated return page permits qualifying new-bike returns within 14 days and qualifying used-bike returns within 21 days. Importantly, it calculates those periods through receipt back at the warehouse—not simply the date you ask to return it. Prior contact is required.

ReturnDedicated-page conditions
New bikeUnused, original packaging, round-trip shipping charged
Used bikeUnder ten miles, like-new condition, complete contents, round-trip shipping plus 25% restocking
Battery purchaseListed as non-returnable

Other site copy lists different periods and a \$500 used-item fee. For planning, the dedicated return page and Terms of Service agree more closely, but obtain the terms applying to the order before relying on a trial.

This should not be described as a cost-free test ride.

What delivery costs and checks matter?

The Terms of Service list \$325 shipping within the contiguous United States, with possible additional palletized-freight charges. Confirm the actual checkout total rather than assuming the advertised bike price is delivered cost.

Inspect promptly. The warranty page requires reporting shipping damage within seven days with dated evidence. It also distinguishes conditions the company considers adjustable from damage it will remedy. A seller’s position about an adjustment does not establish that you personally should perform it.

Arrange qualified help when needed.

PNW reality check

Rain

The warranty expressly excludes water, rust, and corrosion damage. That limitation belongs in a wet-weather ownership decision.

Hills

High claimed torque is not a measured result on your route.

Storage

Ground-level access and turning space deserve early attention.

Service

Confirm a provider willing to work on the exact product and a way to transport it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Raven lighter because it has smaller wheels?

No. WIRED lists it at 142 lb complete—more than the listed 115 lb Freedom and Cruiser.

Does the warranty transfer with a used purchase?

The published warranty says it does not.

Is a return deadline just the date you contact support?

Not under the dedicated page’s wording. It measures the period through warehouse receipt, making shipping time important.

Does a certification claim establish legal road access?

No. Certification and vehicle classification answer different questions.

What should you settle before ordering?

Legal use, complete handling, fit, support expectations, shipping, and return exposure.

This is the research I found. It's your decision.
